| One of the major focal points of Freshman Programs is the Connections Program, which assists freshmen in building meaningful relationships with campus colleagues and the Lynchburg community. The LC Connections Program includes Student Orientation and Registration (SOAR), Welcome Week, and the first semester Freshman Success Seminar, an elective course offered for one hour of academic credit and taught by a Connection Leader.
The Connections Program at Lynchburg College has been awarded a Certificate of Merit from the National Academic Advisors Association for Outstanding Institutional Advising Program, 2003. Mission Statement of the Connections Program The Lynchburg College Connections Program provides programs and services in which first year students and their families gain information in a welcoming environment and interact with the LC community. In this program, students become equipped with the necessary tools that promote growth and allow for a successful transition to campus life. The Application Process for Connection Leaders The position of Connection Leader is one of great responsibility as a peer educator and mentor. Those students wanting to apply for the position must have completed one year at Lynchburg College before the fall semester, have an overall grade point average of at least 2.5, and a clean disciplinary record. A successful candidate will be articulate, responsible, compassionate, full of energy and enthusiasm, involved on campus as well as a good role model for other students.
