
SALEM, VA - The Lynchburg College women's cross country team was picked second in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) preseason poll as voted on by the league's head coaches.
The Hornets received one first place vote and 69 points overall, narrowly finishing ahead of Roanoke College, which tallied 67 points. Senior Ashley Meyer (Springfield, MO/Glendale) returns to the fold this season after placing third at the ODAC Championship meet last season. Meyer set the second-best time ever in the 6K last fall, crossing the finish line 23:22 at Bethlehem, PA and finished 21st at the South/Southeast Regional meet. Also making her return to the course is 2007 ODAC Rookie of the Year Jennie Pernisi (Camden, NY/APW) who finished fifth at the ODAC Championship, owns the school record in the 6K at 23:17, and earned 23rd place at the regional meet.
Lynchburg gets their season underway on September 5th at 9 a.m. in Virginia Beach, VA, for the Virginia Wesleyan Invitational.
