Intensive investigation of insect collecting, identification and diversity; preservation of specimens; preparation and care of museum entomological collections, and activities for incorporating this field in environmental education.
Cost: $50 includes continental breakfast and lunch on Saturday, and a take home kit for continuing your insect investigations.
Suitable for Virginia Master Naturalists, K-12 teachers, non-formal environmental educators, life-long learners.
Activities include: black light collecting at night; collecting from soils, dead logs, and litter; collecting from field, forest and aquatic environments; storing and preserving; identification and labeling; preparation and mounting, starting your own collection; working with museum collections.
