Teacher Training and Professional Development
Our commitment to educating the teachers of today and tomorrow is evident in the environmental education graduate courses taught regularly at the Claytor Nature Study Center, in addition to the renowned undergraduate and graduate education programs at Lynchburg College. We also offer intensive teacher training workshops on-site at the Center that utilize environmental education as a unifying concept and framework across all the disciplines.
We serve as a clearinghouse for professionals, volunteers, and educational resources available to incorporate environmental education into your school curriculum.
A capstone achievement of many regional educators is the M.Ed. offered at Lynchburg College through the Office of Graduate Studies. The M.Ed. in Science Education enables both in-service and pre-service teachers to enhance their knowledge of the sciences and sharpen their ability to use hands-on science activities as key components of sound instruction.
