Aging fearlessly and coping with depression are two of the themes of the 2009 Annual Conference on Aging Well in Mind, Body, and Spirit on Tuesday, June 9 in Schewel Hall at Lynchburg College.
The conference is sponsored by the Beard Center on Aging at Lynchburg College in partnership with Centra. This year's one-day conference will feature two guest speakers, whose talks are free and open to the public.
Eve Reid, teacher and author of Fearless Aging: A Journey of Self-Discovery, Soul Work and Empowerment, will address how to embrace the aging process and lead a purposeful life at 9 a.m.
Dr. Peter Betz, geriatric psychiatrist, will address ways for older adults to cope with anxiety and depression and live a mentally healthy life at 1 p.m. in his talk titled, "Don't Worry, Be Happy."
Workshops, which require registration and payment, include such topics as caregiving, financial issues affecting seniors, social engagement, resiliency, the mind/body connection, and death and dying.
