Video Broadcasting Graduate Assistant Position Available

As the Lynchburg College athletic department advances deeper into the world of broadcasting its events on the internet, the need for additional staffing has increased. Position Title: Media Support Services Graduate Assistant

Supervisor's Title:Technology Manager, Schewel Hall


Job Purpose:

Coordinate and schedule the video broadcasting of sporting events for the web and other events as needed.  Will also assist in production and taping of campus events, including camera work, video editing, and audio production. May interface with the Donovan Media Development Center on more advanced video projects.

Skills Development or Learning Opportunities Available:

•·         Organizational and scheduling skills

•·         Use of broadcast-quality cameras, sound equipment, character generators, computers, lighting, etc.

•·         Video software

•·         Webcasting software

•·         Problem solving

•·         Editing video on professional equipment

•·         Maintaining equipment

Essential Duties:

•·         Coordinate and schedule the video broadcasting of sporting events for the web and other events as needed

•·         Supervise and check field setups for video broadcasting for the web

•·         Supervise student assistants who are working on video broadcasting

•·         Maintain video equipment and report equipment repair needs

•·         Editing video on professional level equipment - using computer-based character generation and editing equipment

•·         Shooting video

•·         Setting up audio-video equipment, including sound and lighting equipment, record-beeping, organizing use of equipment, taping satellite and cable broadcasts, logging tapes.

•·         DVD generation

Equipment Used:

•·         Standard computer workstation

•·         Laptop computer

•·         Video editing/graphics workstations

•·         Video cameras & recorders

•·         Tape duplication equipment

•·         CD-R recorder

•·         DVD recording and dubbing equipment

•·         Audio recording and editing equipment

 

Qualifications:

•·         Special Skills: Computer skills

•·         Education:  Currently enrolled in at least 6 credit hours at Lynchburg College

•·         Experience: Experience with audiovisual equipment

•·         Oral/Written Skills:  Excellent oral skills for effective communication with others
