LC Southpaw Conner Thompson Named to All-South Region First Team

LYNCHBURG, VA - Junior left hander Conner Thompson (Solomons, MD/Reservoirs) continued to earn accolades for his stellar season, as he was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-South Region First Team Monday.

Thompson posted a 7-2 record on the season, tossing 52.1 innings over 12 games of work. His earned run average of 2.62 was second on the Hornet squad and was also third among starters in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC). Thompson added complete game shutouts against conference rivals Randolph-Macon College and Virginia Wesleyan College.

Earlier this month, Thompson was slated as a second-team All-ODAC performer for his brilliant season. He also allowed only nine walks all season, which was second on a Hornet staff that allowed a Division III low of only 2.06 free passes per game.

Lynchburg finished the 2009 season with a 25-14 record, which marked the ninth consecutive campaign with more than 20 wins. LC also won the regular season conference title with an ODAC mark of 14-4.
