Ricky Flynn Does It Again at NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships
MARIETTA, OH -- Lynchburg College junior long distance standout Ricky Flynn (Gaithersburg, MD/Damascus) took home his second All-American honor in the last three days as Dr. Jack Toms and the Lynchburg College men's track and field team competed Saturday at the 2009 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, hosted by Marietta College.
Flynn earned his fourth All-American accolade of the year Saturday, as he finished fifth in the 5,000 meter event with a time of 14:49.46. Flynn finished fifth in the indoor 5,000 meter event as well, and has also garnered All-American honors in cross country this fall and the outdoor 10,000 meter event on Friday.
Senior jumper Brandon Edwards (Warrenton, VA/Fauquier) also took part in the triple jump event, finishing with a top jump of 46 feet, 10 1/4 inches, which placed him 13th overall. Lynchburg finished 24th as a team at the meet, compiling 12 points over the three-day event. Wisconsin-Oshkosh took home the national championship as a team, finishing with 46 points.
LC ends the 2009 season with its 23rd Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) championship, six National Championship meet competitors, and two All-American honorees.
