Day of Caring 2009

Eleven Lynchburg College employees spent a recent day painting, washing windows, and planting at a local preschool as part of the United Way Day of Caring.

Mary Bethune Academy is one of the oldest preschool/daycare programs in Lynchburg. LC's group was one of at least 10 or so that completed projects that day at Mary Bethune Academy.

The LC group was made up of employees from academic advising, development, the Center for Community Development and Social Justice, SERVE, and the chaplain's office. They painted a room for 3-year-olds, washed windows throughout the school, planted flower and vegetable gardens, and painted games on the pavement, such as hopscotch and four-square.

The United Way had nearly 50 companies' employees work at 40 non-profits throughout the city for the annual Day of Caring, which LC has participated in for at least 10 years.
