Four Hornet Softball Players Named To NFCA All-Region Team
LYNCHBURG, VA - Four Lynchburg College softball players were recently named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region team.
Garnering second-team honors was sophomore pitcher Katie Bruce (Lanexa, VA/Lafayette), senior first basement Tara Campbell (Leesburg, VA/Loudon County), and senior outfielder Brittany Allsop (Milford, CT/Johnathan Law). Junior outfielder Lauren Duguay (Williamsburg, VA/Jamestown) also earned third-team accolades.
Bruce batted. 324 this spring along with nine homeruns and a team-high 44 runs batted in. She also posted a 1.86 ERA with a 20-3 win loss record in the circle. She finished first in the ODAC in RBI, second in homeruns, second in wins, and fourth in in runs. Campbell was second on the team in batting average at .364 and was also second with nine homeruns and 40 RBI. She was also second in the conference in RBI and homers and tenth in in batting average.
Allsop currently is seventh in the ODAC in batting average, third in onbase percentage, stolen bases, and hits, and leads the league in runs and walks. She was named first-team All-ODAC and also placed on the ODAC and Salisbury Regional All-Tournament teams. Duguay had her finest season this year, sporting a team third-best .347 batting average along with six homeruns, 29 RBI, and 30 runs.
