Six Hornets Named to All-ODAC Women’s Lacrosse Team

Six Hornets Named to All-ODAC Women's Lacrosse Team

              SALEM, VA- Six Lynchburg College student-athletes were named to the 2009 All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Women's Lacrosse Team Friday afternoon.

             Three Hornets earned second-team accolades: attack Deanna Welsch (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown), midfielder Morgan Logue (Barrington, IL/Barrington) and defender Katie Reynolds (Alexandria, VA/Bishop O'Connell). Welsch led the Hornets with 41 goals and 51 points, and added 23 ground balls and 25 draw controls. She was also named to the second-team All-ODAC team last spring.

 

Logue, a sophomore, was second with 35 goals, including two game winners, and 49 points. She added 38 ground balls and 34 draw controls. Reynolds, a junior, started 14 out of 16 games, added 40 ground balls and caused 25 turnovers.

             Three Hornets received honorable mention: attack Katie Ollice (West Chester, PA/West Chester), midfielder Lindsay Gengras (Avon, CT/Avon) and defender Amanda Werth (Alexandria, VA/Thomas Edison). Ollice, a junior, netted 33 goals, including a game winner. She was third with 40 points and added 16 ground balls.

 Gengras, a sophomore, had 20 goals, including two game winners, and 11 assists. She also added 53 ground balls and 32 draw controls. Werth tallied 23 ground balls and caused 11 turnovers in her senior season. She started all 17 games for the Hornets.

 Lynchburg finished the season 9-8 overall and 4-4 in the conference.
