LC's Ricky Flynn Re-Writes Another Hornet Record Thursday Night
PHILADELPHIA, PA - Lynchburg College distance superstar Ricky Flynn (Gaithersburg, VA/Damascus) had another spectacular night Thursday, as the junior competed at the prestigious Penn Relays on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania.
Flynn competed in the 10,000 meter run and qualified for the national meet with a time of 30:09.63. Flynn finished fourth in the race, which was made up of mostly Division I runners, and currently holds the third fastest time in the 10K in the nation.
The junior harrier also broke a 16 year old school record, as Flynn overtook Gregg Caraliere's time of 30:14 set back in 1993. On the year, Flynn has qualified nationally for the 5,000 and 10,000 meter events in Outdoor, was an Indoor All-American in the 5000 meters and also earned All-American status in cross country this fall.
Flynn and the Lynchburg track team will travel to nearby Liberty University on Thursday for the Liberty Twilight meet.
