#18 LC Men Upset #7 W&L 10-7

LEXINGTON, VA - Freshman Dylan Hoff (Chester Springs, PA/Downingtown East) scored four goals Wednesday as the 18th-ranked Lynchburg College men's lacrosse team fought back from an early four-goal deficit to upset #7 Washington & Lee University 10-7 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action.

The Generals got two goals each from Spence Daw and Chris Washington to take a 4-0 lead, but Hoff scored with 28 seconds left in the first period to get LC on the board. After an early W&L second-quarter goal, the Hornets netted five of the next six scores to tie the game at six heading into intermission. Hoff scored twice after the break, and W&L's Mark Wachtmeister answered with 3:10 left in the third, which proved to be the Generals' last score. Tyler Tolson (Lutherville, VA/Loyola Blakefield) scored with 10 seconds left in the third and Kyle Fortman (Gambrills, MD/Archbishop Spaulding) added an insurance tally in the final quarter.

Michael Mundorf (Cambridge, MD/Mount Saint Joseph) scored three times for Lynchburg, and Ethan Farrell (Nantucket, MA/Nantucket) posted a goal and two assists. Tolson and Fortman each had a goal and an assist, and freshman keeper Franc Cook (Milton, DE/Cape Henlopen) made 12 stops - six in the second half.

The Generals won 16 of the games 20 face-offs, with Kevin Feeney winning all seven of his attempts. Daw finished with two goals and an assist for Washington & Lee (12-3/4-2 ODAC).

The Hornets now enter the upcoming six-team ODAC Tournament as the #2 seed, knocking W&L to #3. LC will receive a first-round bye this weekend and rest up for a home semi-final match-up on Shellenberger Field Wednesday against the W&L/Guilford first-round winner. Roanoke earned the #1 seed in the tournament.
