Wasps Fly By Lynchburg Men's Tennis Sunday 5-1
EMORY, VA - The Lynchburg College men's tennis team lost its first match in its last five times out on Sunday, as the Hornets fell to Emory & Henry College 5-1 in a shorten Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match.
The match was played to decision, and the host Wasps were the first squad to get to the five wins needed for a match victory. The Hornets (5-11/3-5 ODAC) dropped their No. 1 singles match, but evened the score at one contest apiece thanks to an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles by Brandon Brown (Lynchburg, VA/Heritage) and Kyler Paluga (Williamsburg, VA/Jamestown).
The No. 2 doubles pairing has won its last five outings, and are 4-3 when playing together in league contests. The Hornets could not get much else going after that, as LC dropped its next four matches to fall 5-1. No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles all did not finish play, as the match was stopped early.
The Hornets will travel to Bridgewater, VA for more conference action tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 p.m. against the Eagles of Bridgewater College.
