Lynchburg Women's Tennis Falls to Southern Virginia 7-2

LC Box Score vs. SVU

LYNCHBURG, VA - The Lynchburg College women's tennis team dropped a tough non-conference outing Friday afternoon, as the Knights of Southern Virginia University defeated LC 7-2 in action from the LC Courts.

Clare Wallendjack won her No. 4 singles match Friday.                The Hornets (2-12) had trouble in the doubles action, but fought hard in every singles match. Lynchburg got its first win at No. 3 singles, as Krysten Bishop (Big Rapids, MI/Big Rapids) won 8-4 in a pro-set match, while Clare Wallendjack (Kensington, MD/Walter Johnson) started slow at No. 4 singles, but effortlessly breezed by her opponent to win her match 8-2.

Freshman Gretel Coleman (Bedford, NY/Harvey School) won her first set at No. 6 singles 7-6 (7-4), but fell in game two and dropped the super tie-breaker 10-7. LC also dropped another marathon match at No. 5 singles, as Sascha Barrow (West Point, VA/West Point) won the first set 6-3, before falling in game two and the super tie-breaker 14-12.

No . 1 singles Elizabeth Eckert (Annandale, VA/Annandale) won her first set 6-3, but again LC was denied a win as Eckert fell in game two and the super tie-breaker 10-3.

The Hornet women are back in action this Sunday afternoon, as the team will travel to Emory & Henry College for a Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match at 1:30 p.m.
