Lynchburg Men's Outdoor Track & Field Team Ranked Sixth
LYNCHBURG, VA - The Lynchburg College men's outdoor track and field team was recently slotted as the No. 6 team in the nation according to the latest Division III rankings from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The Hornets received 175.47 points in the poll, which was less than a point behind No. 5 Emory University at 176.11. Lynchburg this season has been led by distance star Ricky Flynn (Gaithersburg, MD/Damascus) and decathlete James Bell (Huddleston, VA/Staunton River), both of whom have already qualified for national competition.
Claremont McKenna-Harvey Mudd-Scripps Colleges holds the No. 1 spot with 201.68 points, while Augustana (IL) College, Whitworth University, Washington (MO) University and Emory round out the top five. Washington & Lee University is ranked 39th, while fellow conference member Roanoke College is slotted at 42nd.
Lynchburg will host the LC Classic this Saturday on Shellenberger Field, as events are slated to begin at 9 a.m.
