LC Women's Tennis Takes Care of Ferrum College 7-2

                LYNCHBURG, VA - The Lynchburg College women's tennis team had a solid day Thursday as the Hornets knocked off non-conference foe Ferrum College 7-2 in play from the LC Courts.

Elizabeth Eckert won at No. 1 singles and doubles Thursday.                Junior Elizabeth Eckert (Annandale, VA/Annandale) had a strong finish, as she won at No. 1 singles 6-2, 6-1, while also teaming with Krysten Bishop (Big Rapids, MI/Big Rapids) for a win at No. 1 doubles. Bishop took her No. 3 singles in dramatic fashion, winning the first set 6-3, falling in set two 2-6, and winning the super tie-breaker 10-7.

                Jessie Moore (Salem, VA/Glenvar) handled her opponent in No. 2 singles, going zero and three, while partnering with Clare Wallendjack (Kensington, MD/Walter Johnson) for a 8-1 win in No. 2 doubles. Wallendjack won her No. 4 singles match 6-2, 7-5, while Gretel Coleman (Bedford, NY/Harvey School) won a hard fought marathon at No. 5 thanks to a 13-11 super tie-breaker.

                Newcomer Sarah Fleming (Overland Park, KS/Blue Valley Northwest) played well, but fell in her No. 6 singles match. Lea McMillan of Ferrum won at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles for the Panthers.

                LC (2-11) will travel to Guilford College Tuesday, April 14 for a league match with the Quakers.
