Game 2 Box Score

LYNCHBURG, VA - The 23rd-ranked Lynchburg College softball team swept both ends of an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) twin-bill Tuesday with Randolph-Macon College, by scores of 8-1 and 11-3 (six innings).

The Hornets led 2-1 after three innings in the opener, and added to the lead with three unearned runs in the fourth. Lauren Duguay (Williamsburg, VA/Jamestown) put the game out of reach with a two-run home run in a three-run fifth frame.  Barbie Miles (Kinsale, VA/Washington & Lee) worked six innings, allowing one un-earned run with eight strikeouts while allowing just four base hits and no free passes. Duguay finished 2-3 with two runs and three RBI and Taylor Walker (Poquoson, VA/Poquoson) was also 2-3. Katie Bruce (Lanexa, VA/Lafayette) drew three walks. Morgan Greene and Ashley Crouch each doubled for the Yellow Jackets.

Lynchburg took an early 4-0 in the first inning of the nightcap, fueled by an Amber James (Manahawkin, NJ/South Regional) two-run blast. Randolph-Macon's Krystal Kellum hit a three-run home run in the top of the second, but LC scored a run in the second and two more in the fourth to pull ahead 7-3. With the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the sixth, Bruce drilled her sixth home run of the season over the centerfield fence to end the game.  Bruce ended the game 2-4 with six RBI and James also doubled. Brittany Allsop (Milford, CT/Johnathan Law) tripled and walked three times, and Audra Della Rosa (Rumford, RI/St. Mary Academy Bay View) had two singles. Bruce earned the win in the circle for LC, allowing eight hits over six innings while walking none and fanning 10 Yellow Jackets. Greene had two hits for Randolph-Macon (12-12/6-8 ODAC).

Lynchburg (22-5/13-1) hosts ninth-ranked Christopher Newport University Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in a non-conference doubleheader.
