
WILLIAMSBURG, VA - The Lynchburg College golf team defeated six other squads Monday and Tuesday to win the Glenn Heath Memorial Shipbuilders Tournament, hosted by the Apprentice School at Fords Colony Country Club.
The Hornets shot a sparkling team score of 303 Tuesday for a two-day total of 622 to finish six strokes of Randolph-Macon College. LC also finished ahead of conference rivals Roanoke and Virginia Wesleyan Colleges.
Senior Ryan White (Round Hill, VA/Loudon Valley) shot a team-best 73 on Tuesday and also had the squad's lowest score overall (153). White finished third in the overall scoring, four strokes behind individual champion Andrew Tilley from Danville Community College.
Three other Hornets placed in the top seven of the 44-player competition. Joey Brunet (Virginia Beach, VA/Kellam) and Conrad Anguera (Lynchburg, VA/Carlucci American Institute) each fired a 154 to tie for fourth place, while Augie Camacho (Suffolk, VA/Lakeland) carded a two-day score of 155 to place seventh. Sam Musselman (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cedar Cliff) shot a 170.
The Hornets will compete at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference championships April 18-20 at Bay Creek Golf Resort.
