Four Maryland Natives Earn Conference Weekly Awards for Lynchburg

SALEM, VA - Four Lynchburg College athletes, all from the Old Line State of Maryland, took home Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) honors Monday as announced by the league office this afternoon.

Tolson                Senior Tyler Tolson (Lutherville, MD/Loyola Blakefield) was named  Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week after he scored six times as LC defeated Randolph-Macon College 18-9 in league action on Saturday. For the week, he had eight scores and two assists, as LC knocked off two conference foes.

Lynchburg baseball players Conner Thompson (Solomons, MD/Reservoirs) and Jordan Watkins (Freeland, MD/Heresford) were honored as the ODAC Pitcher and Player of the Week, respectively. Each played very large roles as the Hornets captured three big conference wins on the week.

Thompson                Thompson tossed a gem in his only appearance of the week, allowing no runs and only three hits in a complete-game shutout of Virginia Wesleyan. Watkins continued his hot hitting of late, as he posted five hits in game two against Washington & Lee, adding multi-hit games in two more contests over the week.

Junior Ricky Flynn (Gaithersburg, MD/Damascus) continued his assault on the LC record books this week, as he picked up his fourth conference honor of the year (1 Cross Country, 3 Track & Field). Flynn established a new LC record in the 5,000 meters, posting a NCAA qualifying and Division-III best time of  14:27.58.
