It is with the deepest of sorrow that we announce the sudden death of Dr. Jim Carico, retired professor from the School of Science. Jim died of an apparent heart attack on Tuesday, March 31, 2009.
Many of us, and especially those friends and colleagues in Hobbs, will always remember Jim as one who loved Lynchburg College and who remained active as an adjunct ENVS instructor, a research collaborator with several students and faculty, and as mentor to many in the SOS. Jim was also the developer of the Environmental Science Department and served as the first School of Science dean.
Jim was also instrumental in the acquisition of the Claytor Nature Center property and he continued his involvement there during the construction phase of the education building.
