Lynchburg Men Decathletes Compete at Liberty University
Liberty Collegiate Invitational Results
LYNCHBURG, VA - Three Lynchburg College men's track and field decathletes competed in the Liberty Collegiate Invitational Friday, hosted by Liberty University at the Matthes-Hopkins Track.
Freshman James Bell (Huddleston, VA/Staunton River) is currently eighth in the event standings, though he did finish second in the high jump with a height of six feet, five and a half inches.
David Mattern (Turnbridge, VT/South Royalton) and Chris Giannone (Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) are also competing in the event, as they hold the 12th and 13th places overall, respectively.
Lynchburg assistant coach Kyle Steiner had a banner day, as he competed unattached and is currently the leader with 3,776 points. Steiner won the shot put, high jump and 400 meter events to vault himself to the top of the leader board.
All four competitors will finish the decathlon tomorrow afternoon in the second day of the Liberty Collegiate Invitational.
