Four Lynchburg College history majors recently participated in the Virginia Social Sciences Association's 2009 Annual Meeting.
Junior Annie Stokes won second place in the category for best paper presentation, and junior Ashley Schmidt won third in the same category. Junior Samantha Bryant and senior Cali Lee also presented papers, as did graduate students Jonathan Shipe and Cheryl Adams-Rychkiov.
The VSSA event, hosted by Virginia State University in Petersburg, Virginia, was a chance for faulty members, graduate students, and undergraduate students to present research papers to the Board of Directors and get feedback on their work.
Dr. Kirt von Daacke, assistant professor of history, along with professors Dr. Brian Crim, Jacqui McNulty, and Dr. Nichole Sanders, also participated in the VSSA event and helped support the LC group.
A member of the VSSA Board of Directors, von Daacke had the opportunity to talk with several professors from Washington & Lee University, Hunter College, VMI, and Virginia Tech, who spoke highly of the LC group. "I could not have been prouder of the students and their accomplishments," von Daacke said.
