Fred Hardy Invitational Results

Jennie Pernisi fared well Saturday in the Fred Hardy Invite.                RICHMOND, VA - The Lynchburg College women's track and field team traveled to our state capital this weekend as it competed in the Fred Hardy Invitational, hosted by the University of Richmond at Sports Backers Stadium.

Friday night's action saw the Hornets have a pair of standouts. Olivia Johnson (Cranbury, NJ/Princeton) ran the 400 meter hurdles in 1:10.39, taking home ninth place, while newcomer Jill Dwiewisz (Lynchburg, VA/E.C. Glass) finished third in the pole vault with a height of 3.10 meters.

On Saturday, the Hornets again had a solid performance as several women tracksters fared well. Jennie Pernisi (Camden, NY/APW) finished seventh in the 1500 meter run, posting a time of 4:55.32, with fellow distance runner Ashley Meyer (Springfield, MO/Glendale) clocking a strong time in the 800 meter run of 2:25.17.

In the dash events, Daphne Desrosiers (Pembroke Pines, FL/Killingly) finished fifth in the 100 meters with a time of 12.67 and eighth in the 200 meters after booking a 26.57. Christina Washington (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook) posted a 27.02 in the 200 meters, while earning seventh place with a 60.17 in the 400 meters.

Sophomore Krystle Landes (Staunton, VA/Wilson) ran the 200 meter dash in 26.58 and 400 meters in 60.70. The meet was comprised of mostly Division I teams, including Virginia Commonwealth University, the College of William & Mary and the University of Pittsburgh.

The Lynchburg women will compete next Friday and Saturday at two meets, as some Hornets will fly south to the Duke Invitational while others will compete across town at the Liberty Invitational.
