Lynchburg Men's Track and Field Competes in Fred Hardy Invitational
Fred Hardy Invitational Results
RICHMOND, VA - The Lynchburg College men's outdoor track team competed in the Fred Hardy Invitational Friday and Saturday, hosted by the University of Richmond at Sports Backers Stadium.
Senior Brandon Edwards (Warrenton, VA/Fauquier) had a solid day on Friday evening, as he finished second in the 400 hurdles with a time of 54.01, moving his name into the third spot on the all-time list. John Michael Pavia (Forest, VA/Jefferson Forest) also had a strong finish in the hammer throw, earning fourth place and fourth spot on the LC all-time list with a heave of 147 feet, 1 inch.
Saturday turned out to be an exciting day as well for the Hornets, with many top finishes. Edwards took fifth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.14, while also finishing fourth in the 200 meters with a 22.25.
Evan Ellison (Atlanta, GA/McCallie) earned fourth place in the 400 meter dash, running a 50.82, and Reid Taylor (Midlothian, VA/James River) was sixth in the 800 meter run after clocking a 1:57.94. Sophomore Ryan Van Alstine (Midland Park, NJ/Midland Park) set the new 3000 meter outdoor LC record, running a 8:38.12 for a 12th place finish.
Freshman James Bell (Huddleston, VA/Staunton River) and Kavonte Warner (Scottsville, VA/Buckingham Co.) finished seventh (16.09) and eighth (16.28), respectively in the 110 meter hurdles. Bell also finished in sixth place in the high jump clearing six feet, three inches.
The Lynchburg men will compete next Friday and Saturday at two meets, as some Hornets will fly south to the Duke Invitational while others will compete across town at the Liberty Invitational.
