CNU Downs LC Women's Lax 9-7

Box Score

LYNCHBURG., VA - The Christopher Newport University  women's lacrosse team defeated Lynchburg College 9-7 behind four goals from Shayna Sargent Thursday night in an non-conference game.

The Hornets controlled much of the first half action, winning all 12 draw controls and out-shooting CNU 14-10. But LC only had a 6-5 advantage to show for it, and the Lady Captains took over after intermission. Four straight tallies netted by four different CNU scorers turned the halftime deficit into a 9-6 lead before a late Hornet tally made things interesting.

Sophomore Patty Sheahan (Lutherville, MD/St. Timothy's) had two goals for Lynchburg, and Morgan Logue (Barrington, IL/Barrington), Katie Ollice (West Chester, PA/West Chester),  Katie Tinsley (Springfield, VA/West Springfield), Berry Morse (South Hamilton, MA/Brooks School) and Kelsey Johnson (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright each scored once. Christina Tran (Sterling, VA/Severn) made eight stops.

Kaitlin Quigley, Luz Klemons and Mea Arnold each had a goal and an assist for Christopher Newport (5-2). Gayle Robinson made 10 saves.

The Hornets (5-3) host Washington & Lee University  Monday evening at 7 p.m. in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.
