At Lynchburg College, about 10 percent of entering freshmen and 80 percent of transfers declare their major when they enter. The remainder should declare before the second semester of their sophomore year. Some majors can be completed in four semesters, but others require six or even seven semesters to complete. Therefore, students considering a study of the following majors should declare and begin study in the major as soon as possible:
- Accounting
- Applied Physical Science
- Art
- Athletic Training
- Biology
- Biomedical Science
- Chemistry (B.S.)
- Computer Science
- Environmental Science
- Human Development and Learning (Education)
- Health and Physical Education with Teacher Licensure
- International Relations
- Management
- Marketing
- Music
- Nursing
Declaring a Major or Minor
Declaring a major or minor is easy. The Declaration of Major and Minor form is available in most academic offices, in Academic and Career Services, or by this link and follow the instructions. Students intending a music major or minor should use the following form. If you would like a specific professor to be your advisor, make the request in person. Otherwise, you will be assigned an advisor by the School Dean or Program Coordinator.
