PURPOSE
The Alumni Admissions Liaison Volunteers (AALV) Program at Lynchburg College (LC) is supported by the Office of Enrollment Services in consultation with the Office of Alumni Programs and the Office of Parents Programs.
AALV volunteers include alumni and parents who assist Enrollment Services in recruiting qualified students for admission at Lynchburg College.
NACAC STATEMENT OF PRINCIPLES
LC, as a member of the National Association for College Admissions Counseling (NACAC), must follow the Statement of Principles of Good Practice. It is imperative that all volunteers follow the same guidelines as professional staff members. These guidelines are specified in the excerpt below:
"Colleges and universities are responsible for all persons who may become involved in the admissions, promotional, and recruitment activities (i.e., alumni, coaches, students, faculty) and for educating them about the principles outlined in this statement. The admissions counselor is forthright, accurate, and comprehensive in presenting his/her institution to high school personnel and prospective students. The admissions counselor adheres to the following:
A. State clearly the requirements and other criteria.
B. Make clear all dates concerning application, notification, and candidate
reply for both admission and financial aid.
C. Furnish data descriptive of currently enrolled classes.
D. Avoid invidious comparisons of other institutions."
GOALS OF THE PROGRAM
-To encourage academically qualified, culturally diverse, and talented students to apply for admission and enroll at LC.
-To increase awareness in community about LC and our admissions requirements.
-To provide feedback to the Office of Enrollment Services about local recruitment issues, prospective students, and other pertinent information.
-To provide a partnering opportunity for the greater college community to be involved with the important work of recruiting future students.
-To provide an outlet for alumni to give back to their alma mater.
