The Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) has awarded Lynchburg College initial accreditation of its business school by the ACBSP Baccalaureate/Graduate Degree Board of Commissioners. Dr. Joe Turek, dean of the School of Business and Economics, was presented with the certificate of accreditation during the ACBSP Annual Conference in San Antonio, Texas, on June 28, 2009.
Douglas G. Viehland, executive director of the ACBSP, spoke of the accomplishment of this accreditation. "Lynchburg College has shown its commitment to teaching excellence by participating in the accreditation process, achieving accreditation, and continuing the process of quality improvement. This accreditation is evidence of Lynchburg College's commitment to quality business programs."
"Receiving this accreditation is a most high honor," remarked Dr. Kenneth Garren, president of Lynchburg College. "Impressive recognitions such as this are only achieved through dynamic leadership and exceptional teamwork of dedicated professionals. The entire College takes great pride in the previously demonstrated and now nationally recognized excellence of our business faculty and academic programs."
For institutions that achieve accreditation for their business schools and programs, this attainment certifies that the teaching and learning processes within that institution meet the rigorous educational standards established by the ACBSP. The ratification of accreditation by ACBSP covers a ten-year period during which time Lynchburg College must continually reaffirm its quality through quality assurance reports.
