The Lynchburg College Sports Hall of Fame was established in 1978. Each year the Lynchburg College Alumni Association, through its Board of Directors, appoints a committee to review nominations for this honor, which is bestowed upon alumni who have brought credit to Lynchburg College through achievement in student athletics.
Eligibility requirements: A candidate must have been a full-time student at Lynchburg College for at least two years and a letter winner in at least one varsity sport at the College. At least ten years shall have elapsed since graduation (or Lynchburg College attendance) before an individual can be considered for induction. Current Alumni Board, alumni, faculty, and staff members are eligible.
Criteria for selection: Each candidate considered for induction must have displayed the following attributes while a student: athletic performance, leadership, team contributions, and/or achievement in sports competition as evidenced by postseason honors, position as team captain, record-setting performances, winning individual championships; or achievements in athletics following Lynchburg College. Past inductees include E. Wayne Proffitt ’67, ’73 M.Ed., Marie Enke Shaner ’53, ’69 M.Ed., ’83 Ed.S., Aubrey R. Moon Jr. ’56, Catherine Ennis ’75, Norton W. Hurd ’38, and Betty Jackson Franklin ’83.
