Hornet Women's Track Hosts LC Invite

            LYNCHBURG, VA - The Lynchburg College women's track team hosted the annual LC Invite Saturday, with 12 schools competing - mainly Division I and II squads.

            Sophomore Jessica Gibbs (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) recorded her personal best in the long jump, clearing 5.35 meters. Jennie Pernisi (Camden, NY/APW) ran a 12:04.3 in the steeplechase to finish second, and Lindsay Fender (Fork Union, VA/Fluvanna) recorded a time of 5:15.02 in the 1,500.

            The LC relay teams were also successful Saturday. The 4x400 squad of Krystle Landes (Staunton, VA/Wilson), Olivia Johnston (Cranbury, NJ/Princeton), Gibbs and Christina Washington (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook) took second in 4:04.69, while Kyra Richardson (Midlothian, VA/Midlothian), Chevonne Booker (Richmond, VA/Thomas Jefferson), Landes and Daphne Desrosiers (Pembroke Pines, FL/Killingly) placed third in 49.65.

            The Hornets will travel to the University of Richmond next weekend.
