Humans are addicted to oil, but it's a finite resource. Dr. Kevin Peterson, associate professor of mathematics, will talk about the decline of oil and how to prepare for it in Science Gang Talk at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 25 in Hopwood Auditorium.

Gas and oil in our cars.  Natural gas-based fertilizers on our crops. Plastic that holds our bottled water. Cell phones, credit cards, electricity, food. Fossil fuels have invaded nearly every aspect of our daily lives. Because we live on a finite planet, this resource will eventually run out. Many believe we have now used half of the available oil on our planet, and it will gradually become more difficult to maintain our current lifestyle.

In this talk we will review the history of oil, learn why geologists believe we've reached the peak of oil production, and most importantly, see what some people are doing to prepare for the future.

Pizza, snacks, and drinks will be served starting at 4 p.m.
