Roanoke Women's LAX Nets Nine Straight to Defeat LC 12-5

Box Score

LYNCHBURG, VA - The 25th-ranked Roanoke College women's lacrosse team shrugged off an early 2-0 deficit to post a 12-5 victory Tuesday evening at Lynchburg College in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) opener for both teams.

The Hornets controlled the tempo early - trying to slow down the potent Maroon offense - and succeeded in the early going. Sophomore midfielder Morgan Logue (Barrington, IL/Barrington) scored twice in the first nine minutes of play, but the Maroons patiently waited for their opportunities and capitalized with nine-straight scores.

Logue finished with three goals for LC, while Patty Sheahan (Lutherville, MD/St. Timothy's) and Tricia Clay (Alexandria, VA/West Potomac) each found the back of the net. Lindsay Gengras (Avon, CT/Avon) and Deana Welsch (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) contributed with one assist each.

Roanoke junior midfielder Gina Valles netted a game-best four goals, and Paige Mason added three tallies of her own and two assists. Brooks Laufman and Sunni Ray each had two scores for Roanoke (4-3/1-0 ODAC).

Lynchburg (3-2/0-1 ODAC) travels to Greensboro College Saturday for a non-conference game at 1 p.m.
