Author David Huddle will read selections from his works Wednesday, March 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Daura Gallery, Dillard Fine Arts Center at Lynchburg College. A book signing and reception will follow.
Huddle has written 16 books of poetry, fiction, and essays, including Only the Little Bone, The Story of a Million Years, La Tour Dreams of the Wolf Girl, and The Writing Habit. His most recent work is Of Glory River, a collection of poems that has received critical acclaim.
Raised in Ivanhoe, Va., Huddle received a B.A. from the University of Virginia, an M.A. from Hollins College, and an M.F.A. from Columbia University. He has taught writing and literature at the University of Vermont and the Bread Loaf School of English for many years.
Huddle is a guest writer for LC's spring 2009 Thornton Writing Program. The Thornton endowment, named for Dr. Richard H. Thornton, class of 1907, was founded in 1975 to give the English department the opportunity to bring some of the finest writers to LC to teach classes, give lectures, and hold workshops for students.
