Hornet Golfers Battle through Tough Conditions

FOREST, VA - The Lynchburg College golf team led the eight-team field after the first day of play at the Lynchburg College Invitational at London Downs Golf Course. Rain and 40-degree temperatures marred the start of the two-day event.

The Hornets fielded two teams on Sunday, with the ‘Red' team leading the tournament with a 303. Averett University was second with 314 strokes.

Andrew Tilley of Danville Community College led all golfers with a 70, with LC's Ryan White (Round Hill, VA/Loudon Valley) tied for second with 74. Conrad Anguera (Lynchburg, VA/Carlucci American Institute) fired a 75, Mike Butzgy (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place) and Joey Brunet (Virginia Beach, VA/Kellam) each carded a 77.

The final day's competition is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. tomorrow.
