Hornet Softball Takes Two at Salisbury Tourney

            SALISBURY, MD - The Lynchburg College softball team defeated York College (PA) 7-4 and Depauw University (IN) 3-1 Saturday on the second and final day of play at the Salisbury University Sea Gull Invitational. The Hornets finish the weekend with a perfect 4-0 record.

            Four Hornets had multiple-hit games against York, including Brittany Allsop (Milford, CT/Johnathan Law), who went 3-4 with two runs scored. Tara Campbell (Leesburg, VA/Loudoun County), Leslie Bailey (Rockville, VA/Home School) and Rachel Gallagher (Warrenton, VA/Fauquier) each had two hits. Audra Della Rosa (Rumford, RI/St. Mary Academy Bay School) drove in two runs and Katie Bruce (Lanexa, VA/Lafayette) struck out seven to earn the win in the circle.

            Senior Barbie Miles (Kinsale, VA/Washington & Lee) struck out five in a complete-game victory in the second game. Allsop and Della Rosa each were 2-3 and Bruce drove in two runs and scored once.

            Lynchburg (9-4) opens Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play Wednesday, hosting cross-town rival Randolph College at 2:30 p.m.
