Hornet Women's Lax Defeats Frostburg 12-6

            LYNCHBURG, VA - Sophomores Kit Russell (Potomac Falls, VA/Dominion) and Patty Sheahan (Lutherville, MD/St. Timothy's) each posted hat tricks Saturday as the Lynchburg College women's lacrosse team defeated Frostburg State University 12-6 in non-conference play.

            The contest was tied was tied at two with 12 minutes left in the half, and LC took a 4-3 lead at halftime. The Hornets scored seven of the next eight goals after the break, including all three of Sheahan's tallies, to take a commanding 11-4 lead late in the game.

            Deana Welsch (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) tallied two goals and an assist, and Morgan Logue (Barrington, IL/Barrington) had a goal and an assist. Lindsay Gengras (Avon, CT/Avon), Berry Morse (South Hamilton, MD/Brooks School) and Lesley Buckingham (Herndon, VA/Herndon) each scored once.

            Elisabeth Hildebrand and Megan Dent-Carmen each scored twice for the Bobcats (2-3). LC out shot FSU 34-20 and controlled 12 of the game's 20 draw controls.

            Lynchburg (3-1) begins Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play Tuesday at home against Roanoke College at 7 p.m.
