"Living Dolls: Barbie, G. I. Joe, and Media Images of Unattainable Perfection" is the topic of a lecture at 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 17 in Sydnor Performance Hall, Elliot & Rosel Schewel Hall at Lynchburg College.

Speakers are Dr. Jeanne Booth '76, '88 M.Ed., chair, counseling programs, and associate professor of counselor education, Lynchburg College, and Virginia Huntington, a social worker with Bedford County Public Schools.

The lecture will examine the influence of Barbie and G. I. Joe images and other media representations of physical beauty on gender stereotypes, body image, sense of self-worth, and consumer spending. The event is sponsored by the Lynchburg College Gender Studies Minor Program.
