LC Field Hockey Honored With 12 Members on NFHCA Academic National Squad

LC Field Hockey Honored With 12 Members on NFHCA Academic National Squad  

            CHANDLER, AZ - The Lynchburg College field hockey team, who won its third consecutive Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) championship this season, was honored with 12 members on the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Academic Squad Thursday. 

            Seniors Megan Kempel (Millington, MD/Queen Anne's) and Carter Maxey (Midlothian, VA/James River) were both honored with the four-year award, as they have made the team during every season at LC. 

            Juniors Signey Milks (Gloucester, VA/Gloucester) and Sarah Cates (Wilmington, DE/Brandywine) and sophomores Jenny Weir (Richmond, VA/James River) and Caitlin Gibb (North East, MD/Rising Sun) combined their on-field accolades with academics as they were also honored. 

            First-year players Lindsey Cooper (Fredericksburg, VA/Courtland), Kristina Morris (Stafford, VA/Mountain View), Tarah Rahner (Lincoln Univ., PA/Bishop Shanahan), Deanna Smith (Chester, VA/Thomas Dale) and Jordan Warrington (Ocean View, DE/Indian View) and Sarah Wise (Newark, DE/Caravel) were honored as well for the Hornets. 

            Lynchburg finished its 2008 season 18-6, advancing to the NCAA Sweet 16 at Ursinus after knocking off Sewanee: University of the South 4-0 in the opening round.
