Lynchburg Softball Loses Both Games of DH to Salisbury 5-3, 4-2

               

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA - The Lynchburg College softball team lost both ends of a doubleheader with Salisbury University today, losing 5-3 in the first game and 4-2 in the second.

 

Barbie Miles (Kinsale, VA/Washington & Lee) pitched all seven innings in the first contest, striking out eight batters while allowing nine hits and six walks. Meagen Fredenberg (Knoxville, TN/Bearden) was 1-for-2 with two RBI, Audra Della Rosa (Rumford, RI/St. Mary Academy Bay View) and Rachel Gallagher (Warrenton, VA/Fauquier) each had a hit and an RBI, and Katie Bruce (Lanexa, VA/Lafayette) had one hit, one walk, and two scores.

 

In the second game, Bruce went 2 and 2/3 innings, giving up four runs and five hits. Caitlin Dolby (Laurel, DE/Laurel) pitched a solid 4 and 1/3 innings, surrendering just two hits and two walks. Brittany Allsop (Milford, CT/Johnathan Law) and Tara Campbell (Leesburg, VA/Loudoun Co.) both reached based one and scored once while Bruce had one homerun

 

LC (5-4) travels to Salisbury University for the Salisbury Tournament Friday and Saturday. They will square off with Plattsburg State and Wilkes at noon and 4 p.m. on Friday and are schedule to play York College at 9 a.m. and DePauw University at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
