Hornet Men's Track Soars at Virginia Tech Last Chance
LYNCHBURG, VA - The No. 13 Lynchburg College indoor men's track and field team had a fantastic day Saturday afternoon, as records and national qualifying times highlighted the day from Blacksburg, VA.
Freshman James Bell (Huddleston, VA/Staunton River) became LC's all-time record holder in the indoor pole vault, as he cleared 16 feet, 1 ¼, which is now fifth-best nationally and puts him in the NCAA meet.
Freshman Reid Taylor (Midlothian, VA/James River) placed his name in the LC records books as well, as he booked the fourth-best time in the 800 meters with a time of 1:56.93. Also, the 4x400 meter relay team, consisting of Chris Word (Lynchburg, VA/E.C. Glass), Brandon Edwards (Warrenton, VA/Fauquier), Sam Steinke (The Woodlands, TX/The American School of Dubai) and Earl Graves (Richmond, VA/Hermitage), provisionally qualified for nationals with a time of 3:17.65.
The Hornets will now compete at the NCAA Indoor Championships this weekend Terre Haute, IN.
