Softball Finishes First Day of VA Wesleyan Tourney With Sweep

 VIRGINIA BEACH, VA - The Lynchburg College softball team defeated Allegheny College 8-0 in five innings to earn a sweep on the first day of the Virginia Wesleyan College Tourney after defeating Wilkes 12-3 in six innings earlier in the day.

 Barbie Miles (Kinsale, VA/Washington & Lee) threw a complete game for the Hornets and Rachel Gallagher (Warrenton, VA/Fauquier) paced the Hornet batters, going 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs, three RBI, and one homerun. Brittany Allsop (Milford, CT/Johnathan Law) and Lauren Duguay (Williamsburg, VA/Jamestown) each had three hits and scored twice while driving in two more and Tara Campbell (Leesburg, VA/Loudoun Co.) finished 1-for-2 with one RBI.

 The Hornets play Rowan and Peace College Saturday at noon and 4 p.m. to conclude the Virginia Wesleyan Tourney.
