Deana Welsch Earns ODAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week

  Deanna Welsch          SALEM, VA - Lynchburg College senior attack Deana Welsch (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) earned the Old Dominion Athletic conference (ODAC) Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week, the first award of the 2009 women's lax season.

            Welsch led the way offensively Saturday as LC opened the season with a 17-4 win at Methodist University, scoring three times and assisting on three others.

            Last season, Welsch led LC with 44 goals, and finished with 14 assists for 58 points. She has 94 career goals and 122 points in her two seasons and one game this spring.

            The Hornets (1-0) host Shenandoah University Friday at 6 p.m. on Shellenberger Field.
