This award is the highest honor given to an alumnus of the College by the Alumni Association. Hobbs Award nominations can only be made by members of the Alumni Association.

Eligibility requirements: A candidate must have attended Lynchburg College at least two years and have graduated from an accredited college or university. He or she must also have graduated at least ten years prior to the time the award is presented. 

Criteria for selection:
Each candidate must display an exemplary record of service in each of three areas: church (interpreted in as broad an ecumenical manner as deemed appropriate), community, and alma mater. Outstanding service in one or two of the three areas is not sufficient. Past winners of the award include Delberta Bell Bennett ’32, Allen B. Stanger ’33, Maury Hundley Jr. ’38, Lorraine Kiley Flint '43, and John L. Suttenfield Jr. ’49.
