LC Women’s Lacrosse Opens Season with 17-4 win at Methodist

            FAYETTEVILLE, NC –The Lynchburg College women’s lacrosse team netted 13 unanswered goals and breezed to a 17-4 non-conference win at Methodist University Saturday afternoon in LC’s 2009 season opener.

            The Hornets controlled the action, out-shooting the Monarchs 38-8 over the 70 minutes of play. Senior attack Deanna Welsch (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) led the way offensively, scoring three times and assisting on three others, and Morgan Logue (Barrington, IL/Barrington) also found the back of the net three times.

            Kathryn Ollice (West Chester, PA/West Chester) had two goals and two assists, and Lindsay Gengras (Avon, CT/Avon) and Kit Russell (Potomac Falls, MD/Dominion) each scored twice. Patty Sheahan (Lutherville, MD/St. Timothy’s) and Tricia Clay (Alexandria, VA/West Potomac) each had a goal and an assist and Lesley Buckingham (Herndon, VA/Herndon) assisted on two scores.

            Lynchburg (1-0) hosts Shenandoah University Friday evening at 6 p.m. on Shellenberger Field.
