Hornet Women's Tennis Scores 5-4 Upset of Hollins

ROANOKE, VA - The Lynchburg College women's tennis team opened its 2009 season with a bang Friday evening, posting a 5-4 upset victory over Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) rival Hollins University at the Roanoke Country Club. In the annual pre-season coaches poll released last week, the Hornets were picked to finish 10th while Hollins was voted third.

Sophomore Jessica Moore (Salem, VA/Glenvar) won a hard-earned 6-4, 6-4 victory at #3 singles, while Krysten Bishop (Big Rapid, MI/Big Rapids) won 6-4, 6-2 at #4 singles. Clare Wallendjack (Kensington, MD/Walter Johnson) was victorious 6-0, 6-1 at #5 singles and teamed with Sascha Barrow (West Point, VA/West Point) to win 8-1 at #3 doubles competition. Barrow won by default at #6 singles.
