ODAC Indoor T&F Championship at Liberty Highlights Busy Weekend for LC athletics

LYNCHBURG, VA - This weekend is scheduled to feature six Hornet athletic teams in action in Lynchburg over the three days.

The 2009 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championship Meet is slated for Friday at Liberty University's Tolsma Track Center. The 23rd-ranked Hornet men will look to hold off a challenge from Bridgewater College and capture their 12th-straight conference title. LC received five of the six first place votes in the ODAC pre-season poll, but the Eagles nabbed the other vote. BC also won the 2008 Outdoor conference title, edging Lynchburg by 32 points. The Hornet women were picked to place third this indoor season, one spot ahead of their fourth-place 2008 finish. Roanoke College received all six first-place votes and Washington & Lee University was predicted to finish second.

The ODAC indoor track and field championship website is located here: http://www.roanoke.edu/athletics/tf/tfchampionship/default.cfm?sport_code=mitf&acad_year=2008-2009?sport_code=witf&acad_year=2008-2009

The LC women's tennis team is also slated to begin its 2009 campaign on Friday, hosting Hollins University at 3 p.m. on the LC Courts.

The Hornet men's lacrosse team will host back-to-back games, facing Ohio Wesleyan University Saturday at 1 p.m. and Colorado College at 12:30 p.m. Sunday on Shellenberger Field. The Lynchburg baseball is slated to square off with ODAC-rival Guilford College Saturday at 1 p.m. for one game on Fox Field, while the Hornet softball squad is scheduled for a doubleheader against Shenandoah University Saturday at 1 p.m. as well.
