The Daura Gallery's Fourth Annual Evening with Art and Friends, was held on Tuesday, May 17, 2011.
Dr. Glenn Buck and his quartet entertained the 150 guests before dinner. The lovely dinner was prepared by LC's Chef Michial Neal and his staff. Our guest speaker was Alex Nyerges, Director of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, who spoke about the Picasso exhibit at the VMFA.
A silent auction yielded $4,800 for a Pierre Daura watercolor, donated by Martha Daura from her private collection. We were happy that Martha Daura and her husband Tom Mapp were able to join us again this year.
All proceeds from the annual Evening with Art and Friends benefits the Friends of the Daura Gallery and supports exhibitions, programs, and special events. Special thanks go to Event Committee members Rosel Schewel, Sandra Whitehead, Fred and Mary Esther Cawthorne, and Alex and Jessica Newmark; and a special salute to the Daura Gallery staff, Steve Riffee, Laurie Cassidy, and Sascha Barrow, who worked diligently on planning and implementation.
