Lynchburg College Theatre will present Sweet Smell of Success, a musical adaptation of the 1957 film, February 26-28 at 7:30 p.m., and March 1 at 2 p.m. in the Dillard Theatre.
Based on the book by John Guare, the play is set in New York City in 1952 and follows the rise and fall of an ambitious press agent who lusts for success. Acclaimed composer Marvin Hamlisch wrote the jazz score, and Craig Carnelia wrote the lyrics.
A cast of 24 LC students includes Liz Butler of Bedford, Derek Arey and Matthew Booth of Lynchburg, and Paul Robertson of Moneta.
Tickets are $10 adults, $8 seniors 60+ and $5 students. The Lynchburg College Box Office (434/544-8380) will open on February 19, 2009, at 1 p.m. Box office hours are 1 - 5 p.m. weekdays and 30 minutes before show time on weekends.
