LC Softball Wins 4-2 at Mary Washington
Second Game Suspended in Bottom of 8th, LC Leading 11-8

FREDERICKSBURG, VA - The Lynchburg College softball team traveled to Mary Washington, VA, on Sunday for a double-header. LC won the first game 4-2 and was leading the second contest 11-8 before the game was suspended in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Sophomore pitcher Katie Bruce (Lanexa, VA/Lafayette) threw all seven innings in the first contest, scattering seven hits along with eight strikeouts and also added a run and a hit as a batter. Amber James (Manahawkin, NJ/S. Regional) recorded two hits and drove in two runs, Brittany Allsop  (Milford, CT/Johnathan Law) posted two hits and two stolen bases, and Tara Campbell (Leesburg, VA/Loudoun Co.) had one RBI. Cathy Hull reached base three times with one RBI while Elizabeth Crowe had two hits. Kirsten Howell pitched a complete game, allowing eight hits and three earned runs with seven Ks.

Lynchburg led the second contest 11-8 going into the bottom of the eighth inning, but the game was suspended due to darkness. The game will be concluded at a time and date to be determined.

LC (2-1) will resume play on Saturday, February 28, as Shenandoah University travels to Lynchburg for a double header starting at 1 p.m.
